CDL Truck Driving Academy
º¬Ðß²ÝAV’s Truck Driving Academy can prepare you for a high-paying career in as little as five weeks. Our wide-ranging curriculum and training process are focused on helping you pass the CDL exam and earn your Class A license. You’ll get plenty of time behind the wheel learning from state-certified instructors licensed with the Ohio Division of Public Safety. Training on any combination vehicle such as a semi-tractor trailer and hazmat endorsements.

Commercial Truck Driving Training
The Truck Driving Academy serves Belmont, Harrison, Monroe, and surrounding counties, and is licensed by the Ohio Department of Public Safety. Classroom Instruction Includes:
- Vehicle safety
- Shifting
- Log book
- Pre-trip preparation
- Coupling/uncoupling
- Air brakes
- Weight distribution and proper loading
- Preventative maintenance
- Handling hazardous materials
- Map reading
- Textbooks, workbooks, and materials
Range practice and road course covers skills such as:
- Basic control systems
- Safe operating procedures
- Speed management
- Extreme driving conditions
- Backing
- Visual search
- Night operations

*To enroll in this program, you must pass a USDOT physical exam and an alcohol and controlled substance test and have a valid state driver’s license. Payment of proof of funding must be submitted before starting program.Â

How to Afford the Cost of Truck Driving School
will award funds to institutions that select students to receive the grant and loan combination for their CDL training. Half of the program costs will be covered by a grant and the other half, a forgivable loan. The loan portion will be forgiven after one-year of employment.
Student Eligibility
- Ohio resident
- Institutions will determine the following student requirements:
- Passed drug test
- Moving violations – 3 or less in past two years
- Has not plead guilty to or been convicted of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or a drug of abuse in the past twelve months.
- May not be currently in default with a federal loan.
*Students with a felony are eligible
