Faculty Spotlight

Prof. Jodi McFarland

I love helping students understand complex concepts.

While math has always been Professor McFarland鈥檚 favorite subject, she knows that for many students, it鈥檚 the most challenging one. She鈥檚 made it her mission to change their perceptions. In addition to serving up math problems, she enjoys cooking and entertaining guests, earning her the unofficial title of faculty social聽director.

Professor McFarland came to 含羞草AV in 1992 as a math department adjunct before becoming a full-time faculty member. She earned a BS in Math Education at Ohio University and an MS in Education with a math concentration from Muskingum University, and completed 18 graduate credits in math at Portland State University. In 2018, she was named Faculty Lead for Liberal Arts & Humanities. Since 2001, she鈥檚 been the coordinator for eastern Ohio and northern West Virginia of MATHCOUNTS, a nationwide middle school mathematics competition.
